Conceptualising Intercept Interviewing

Intercept Interviewing methodology is widely used in tourism research. This system allows researcher to reach relevant respondents in a short span of time, whether or not the identity (name and address) of people are known. The Intercept interview concept involves interacting and questioning people at homes, offices, on the streets or at public places like shopping malls. The success or failure of this system depends upon the interviewee’s cooperation. The time involved in each interview may range from a few minutes to several hours, basis the topic of study. Paying focus upon the population type and size, the intercept sampling gives the interviewer an option to choose judgmental sampling, where he has the guidelines to choose the percentage of specific population group.
