Pursuing Doctoral Research Outside Your Majors

Hi pals. I’m requesting you all to assist me in making the most important decision of my academic career. I have done my graduation, and masters in political science. But now the discipline of international relations has become my research interest. It is outside my majors, but I want to explore and study this field of international relations at a higher level. I have been studying the basics of it since my masters, and now I want to do PhD in International Relations. Will it be okay if I change the academic background? I’m nervous if I’m making the right choice or not. Advise me something please.
